Between 18–20 November 2025, Associate Professor Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, participated in the International Commission meeting of the International Services Program (ISP) under the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in Chicago, United States. He attended the meeting as one of the commissioners representing leading international pharmacy education institutions. ACPE is an international, non-profit accrediting body responsible for evaluating and certifying the quality of pharmacy programs in the United States and worldwide.

During this meeting, Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan engaged in collaborative discussions with ACPE to enhance the quality of pharmacy education across the ASEAN region. The dialogue included opportunities for ACPE’s involvement in activities organized by the US–ASEAN Pharmacy Consortium, the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA), the Council of Pharmacy Deans of Thailand (CPDT), and ASEAN PharmNET. As Thailand currently serves as a hub for coordinating international organizations that promote the advancement of regional pharmacy education, these proposed collaborations were well received and are expected to commence in 2026.

Established in 1932 and recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education, ACPE is headquartered in Chicago and comprises experts from the American Council on Education, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). The International Commission selects distinguished leaders in global pharmacy education to serve as members of the ISP, tasked with reviewing and accrediting pharmacy curricula worldwide.

Mahidol University’s selection to serve on the ISP is a significant honor, reflecting the institution’s strong international visibility and leadership in global pharmacy education. In alignment with the university’s mission to advance toward world-class university status, the Faculty of Pharmacy has submitted both its Thai and International Doctor of Pharmacy programs to undergo ACPE’s international accreditation process, demonstrating its continued commitment to achieving global-quality standards in pharmacy education. Besides, participating in the meeting aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 4: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all; Goal 10: reducing inequalities within and among countries; and Goal 17: strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing global partnerships for sustainable development.
