On October 8, 2025, from 05:00 PM to 06:00 PM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), attended an online meeting of the WUN Global Africa Group (GAG) via the Zoom platform. Mahidol University has nominated MUPY as its representative to work with this international group, reinforcing the university’s role in promoting global research collaboration and sustainable academic partnerships. The meeting gathered representatives from leading WUN member universities across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific, including the University of Pretoria, University of Cape Town, University of Ghana, University of Leeds, and University of Tsukuba.
The meeting discussed the group’s reconstitution and future direction, with a key focus on a new initiative proposed by the University of Pretoria to support the ARUA (African Research Universities Alliance) Early Career Researcher Program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The initiative aims to build research capacity and promote equitable collaboration among global partners. This engagement aligns with MUPY’s mission to advance international cooperation in research and innovation, supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through inclusive and sustainable academic collaboration.
