MIPY Connect & Care: Mahidol Pharmacy Students Volunteer to Care for the Elderly, Bringing Joy and Good Health

On Wednesday, July 23, 2068, from 07:30 AM to 05:00 PM, the International Pharmacy School of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MIPY), organized the event entitled 'MIPY Connect & Care: First Encounter, Heartfelt Connection, Volunteer Friends for the Elderly' at Ban Sutthawat Chaloem Phra Kiat, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province. In this regards, Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, Deputy Dean for the Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program), led a team of faculty members, staff, and MIPY's first-year international pharmacy students to participate in the event. The activity aimed to foster volunteerism among students and provide them with an opportunity to learn about community engagement, as well as to build positive relationships between students and the elderly. The event featured a variety of beneficial activities for the elderly, including:

  1. Health Promotion for the Elderly: Students provided knowledge and advice on basic healthcare, correct medication usage, and beneficial dietary practices to promote a good quality of life for the elderly.
  2. Recreational Activities for Stress Reduction: Engaging recreational activities such as games, singing, and group activities were organized to help the elderly relax, smile, and strengthen their relationships.
  3. Donation of Essential Supplies for the Elderly: Faculty members, staff, and students collaboratively donated essential daily necessities such as adult diapers, medical supplies, and personal care items to alleviate financial burdens and provide convenience for the elderly.
  4. Lunch Service: Students and faculty members collectively prepared and served a special lunch for the elderly. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie, bringing joy to both givers and receivers.

The MIPY Connect & Care event was a resounding success. The elderly expressed their gratitude and happiness for the care and attention received from the students and faculty. This reflects the commitment of the International School of Pharmacy to nurturing graduates who possess both knowledge and a strong sense of social responsibility.
