Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, participated in an online meeting with delegates from the School of Pharmacy, Showa Medical University, Japan. The Japanese delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Hiroyuki Itabe, Chair of the International Exchange Committee of the School of Pharmacy, along with Dr. Tsuyoshi Maruyama. Also joining the meeting from MUPY were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanarat Suansanae, Deputy Dean for Education; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jennis Meanwatthana, Deputy Dean for the Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program); and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sayamon Sukkha, Assistant Dean for Professional Affairs.
This online discussion served as a platform to further explore the details of pharmacy-related courses as well as the scope and content of the planned academic activities between the two institutions. A significant focus of the meeting was to prepare for Dr. Tsuyoshi Maruyama’s upcoming visit to MUPY as a visiting researcher for one year, beginning in January 2026. During his tenure, Dr. Maruyama is expected to engage in collaborative research on educational innovation, including serious games, gamification, and AI-enhanced teaching methodologies. Additionally, he aims to support ongoing biomedical research involving tumor cells by applying his expertise in cell culture, Western blotting, PCR, and related techniques.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to academic excellence and international collaboration in pharmacy education and research. It also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, and Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
