This international conference was hosted by the College of Pharmacy, China Medical University (CMU) and took place in the Stanford Conference Room at CMU's College of Pharmacy, Taiwan.
During this conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mullika Chomnawang served as an invited speaker and delivered a lecture on "Genomic Surveillance Uncovering Antimicrobial Resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vilasinee Hirunpanich Sato also served as an invited speaker, presenting on "Current Trends in Thai Natural Products with Antihyperglycemic Effects and Their Applications in Thailand." They were joined by other guest speakers from China Medical University and Chiba University.
The conference aimed to promote academic exchanges in education and research among faculty, scholars, and students from the three universities across the Asian region. This initiative seeks to foster development in research capabilities and teaching in pharmaceutical sciences and health sciences, aligning with global standards and the contemporary context. This event also brought together researchers and students to discuss critical advancements in pharmaceutical sciences. Building on the success of this gathering, the three universities are looking forward to the 3rd PSA Conference, scheduled to take place in Japan. This continuing collaboration highlighted a shared commitment to driving impactful research and fostering academic partnerships across Asia.
The PSA Conference was first held on August 22, 2019, with the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, as the inaugural host. Since then, the Faculty has developed a research collaboration network across Asia in partnership with Chiba University, Japan, and China Medical University, Taiwan. The network members agreed to hold the PSA Conference on a rotating basis every two years. However, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the conference until it was resumed in 2024, hosted again by the College of Pharmacy, China Medical University.
Moreover, their global engagement also supported the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all; Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries; and Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
