2024 Pharmaceutical Biochemistry Training Program for UST Students

On June 25, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Mahidol University’s Faculty of Pharmacy (MUPY) by the Department of Biochemistry held an orientation meeting for the 2024 Pharmaceutical Biochemistry Training Program arranged for exchange students from the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Santo Tomas (UST), the Philippines. It was the 10th batch of the Pharmaceutical Biochemistry Training Program which was participated by four UST biochemistry students. 

Regarding this, Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, the Dean, provided a warm welcome to Dr. Theorell Joshua J. Abion, M.D., and four biochemistry students who join the training program. Having been held at Room 710, the orientation meeting was also attended by the faculty members in the Department of Biochemistry led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wanvisa Udomsinprasert, Chair of the Department of Biochemistry, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jiraphun Jittikoon, and their Department members. They had a good chance to discuss future research collaboration between two universities as well.

This training program sought to give trainees professional training in the field of pharmaceutical biochemistry, as well as to increase academic staff and student worldwide exposure, resulting in increasing the global visibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Furthermore, this professional training program strengthened a strong relationship between MUPY and the UST. It also corresponded to the Faculty of Pharmacy's Mission of producing graduates with equivalent quality to leading pharmacy institutions in Asia, equipped with morality and competency to serve the societal need. It also responded to SDG’s Goal 4: Quality Education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
