ทำไมต้องงดยาเบาหวานก่อนการผ่าตัด หรือก่อนการทำหัตถการสวนหัวใจคะ

การทำหัตถการทุกประเภท ต้องทำการเตรียมความพร้อมของผู้ป่วยก่อนเข้ารับการทำหัตถการ เพื่อลดความเสี่ยงในการเกิดผลข้างเคียงหรือภาวะแทรกซ้อนระหว่างการทำหัตถการ ซึ่งในผู้ป่วยที่มีโรคเบาหวาน แล้วใช้ยาลดระดับน้ำตาลในเลือดอยู่ จำเป็นต้องงดรับประทานยาลดระดับน้ำตาลในเลือด เนื่องจากก่อนการทำหัตถการ ผู้ป่วยส่วนใหญ่ต้องงดรับประทานอาหาร ทำให้มีระดับน้ำตาลในเลือดต่ำ การใช้ยาลดระดับน้ำตาลในเลือดบางชนิดจึงเพิ่มความเสี่ยงการเกิดภาวะน้ำตาลในเลือดต่ำ ซึ่งอาจรุนแรงถึงเสียชีวิตได้ นอกจากนี้ ในระหว่างการรักษาตัวในโรงพยาบาล อาหารของโรงพยาบาลและอาหารที่ผู้ป่วยเคยรับประทานเป็นประจำ มีความแตกต่างกัน จึงทำให้การใช้ยาลดระดับน้ำตาลในเลือดชนิดเดิมอาจไม่เหมาะสม และอาจต้องเปลี่ยนไปใช้ยาลดระดับน้ำตาลในเลือดแบบฉีดใต้ผิวหนัง เพื่อให้ง่ายต่อปรับยา แล้วติดตามระดับน้ำตาลในเลือดของผู้ป่วยทุกวัน
